2008 Fall/Winter Event Schedule

Youth Fishing Tournament

October 11th, 2008
Saturday  9-12 p.m.

Wells Branch hosts the annual youth fishing tournament for ages 17 and under from 9 a.m. to noon at Mills Pond. Enrollment into the tournament is free for all youth and trophies and prizes will be awarded. Entertainment and refreshments will be available. Equipment will be provided for those anglers who show with out. We will have fishing poles, hooks and bait. The catch and release policy will be suspended for this event only. All state fishing regulations apply.

Halloween Haunted House and Kiddy Korner

October 31, 2008
Friday 6-9 p.m.

You never know what might me around the corner. Come visit out Haunted House from 6-9 p.m. Halloween night at the Wells Branch Annex, 14611 Wells Port Dr. All ages are invited to experience the fear and terror of dark hallways, scary characters, and spooky music. The C.C. will host the Kiddy Korner in a controlled environment for our younger guests not quite ready for a scare. Expect to experience silly characters, games, prizes, candy, and an entry-level “haunted house”.

Thanksgiving Potluck

November 22, 2008
Saturday  5-7 p.m.

Before the dinner begins, Wells Branch Staff will congregate around the dedication grove to recognize new pavers added in memory and achievement. The dedication will begin at 4:30 p.m.. Directly following the dedication, our Wells Branch neighbors once again come together for our annual Thanksgiving potluck dinner in the community center. Everyone is encouraged to bring a dish to serve 10. The turkey, ham, dressing, potatoes, bread, and beverages will be provided and served by the MUD. The Generic Bluegrass Band will once again entertain the crowd with the laid back and warm sounds of acoustic bluegrass music.

Youth Fowl Shot Contest

November 25, 2008
Tuesday  5-8 p.m.

Wells Branch youth are invited to test their basketball skills and maybe win a turkey to take home for Thanksgiving starting at 5 p.m. in the Wells Branch MUD Recreation Center. Participants accumulate points by competing in a variety of basketball activities (Free Throw, H.O.R.S.E., 3pt Around the World, and possibly Knockout). Age groups will be spilt into three groups: 8-10, 11-13, and 14-17.  Grand-prize winners from each age group will receive a turkey. Participants must have a valid recreation tag to enter the gym and compete in the contest. Registration is free and will begin early November in the Rec. center.

Luminaries

December 5th and 6th 2008
Friday and Saturday  6-9 p.m.

Experience the glow of the holidays as our trails are illuminated with luminaries around the Katherine Fleischer Park. Santa will visit the Homestead from 6-9 p.m. both nights.  Santa’s elves will be taking photos for $2 each. A community pot luck will be held starting 7pm on the 5th inside the community center. Bring a dish to serve 10 of your neighbors. On the 6th, there will be live entertainment and indoor refreshments for all to enjoy in the Community Center. Remember to decorate your house this year! Judging for several categories including, most elaborate, most original, most traditional, and best use of lights will begin Saturday night so make sure you go all out as awards will be given.
